Too much time spent looking upHe always had a thing for looking up.
To stars or birds, or whatever it was,
that happened to catch his eye.
take his fancy for a while.
He always got caught up in dreams.
Lost in worlds I couldn't see.
I knew he would come back before too long
But then once again he would be gone.
He would sit at the window
gazing out for hours on end.
Watching birds come and go
Not even noticing the world move on.
I couldn't break into his dreams
No matter how hard I tried.
I wasn't allowed to know
What it was that had him so entranced,
Maybe he was searching for a song
Long since passed,
Forgotten and gone.
Or maybe not.
Sunshine ChildAs the crows spread their charcoal wings
-She closes her eyes to sleep ready to be engulfed
In their oily black subterfuge.
Their beautiful night
Scratched out in hurried graphite and wolfs carbon
Ink bleeding the colours out of the evening and
Dispersing across the sky.
Casting one huge shadow over all
-The innocent sleepers being thrown in to darkness
For too long she sleeps
scared of the crows' ever growing span
But deep inside she knows the design.
She opens her eyes
To face the sharp face and distorted world
of silver and grey refracted light
and over lapping shadows.
